Its the most wonderful time of the year. That means seasonal residents are returning, traffic is picking up, our arts and culture venues are packed, and my real estate business is thriving.

Inventory levels in our area are almost up to pre-pandemic levels, giving buyers more choices than they’ve had in years. I’ve noticed buyers are doing a lot more due diligence regarding their property selection than we’ve seen in a while. I always appreciate the confidence placed in me to guide every one of my clients to achieve their goals. Gulf Islands Water Ferry Service Launched Dec. 8

The new Gulf Islands Water Ferry service kicked off Friday, Dec. 8. The ferry will shuttle visitors and residents to and from Anna Maria Island and downtown Bradenton. Two 50-foot open air catamarans, Miss Anna Maria and Downtown Duchess, will take riders from the day dock located directly off Riverwalk in downtown Bradenton to Anna Maria City Pier and Bridge Street Pier. The ferry will operate Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Ride times between stops will range from 25 to 40 minutes. A one-way ticket will cost $8 per person. Special pricing will be available for children and seniors.

Two Stops Added To Bay Runner

The Bay Runner stop at Sunset Drive/Golden Gate Point is back (after being suspended during FDOT construction) and a new stop has been added near Bird Key Park at John Ringling Boulevard/Bird Key Drive. The Bay Runner continues to be a very popular, hassle-free mode of transportation between downtown, St. Armands Circle and Lido Key, with well over a quarter of a million riders during the first 18 months of operation.

Town of Longboat Changes Operating Hours

In the new year, the town of Longboat Key is changing office hours among most town departments. To accommodate town employees that commute to and from the island, the town is implementing a pilot program beginning on Jan. 2 that will change the operating hours to 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. The new operating hours will not affect Longboat Key Police Department and Longboat Key Fire Rescue Department. Additionally, the majority of Public Works and Tennis Center employees will also continue current operating hours since many of those employees already begin work earlier in the day.
