We live in a very desirable and active Real Estate market but that’s not to say we are completely bullet-proof against some market normalization. Current influences in our particular market may be driven more by insurance costs and assessments to stabilizing association reserves, than any national forces. Sellers are confident because of low inventory which is not even half the pre-Covid inventory numbers. But the unknowns of additional expenses are a factor. Sarasota is still a top destination but Buyers are being more selective wanting renovated residences or those priced appropriately.

Longboat Key continues to impress tourists, recently ranking No. 7 on Travel + Leisure’s list, Best Islands in the Continental U.S. Travel + Leisure’s island rankings are based on five core criteria: natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people/friendliness and value. Readers are sent a survey and asked to rate each category on a scale from excellent to poor. Scores are averaged to obtain the final results.

Van Wezel Included on ‘Place to Save’ List
The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has been included on the Florida Trust of Historic Places 2023 Florida’s 11 to Save, a list of the most threatened historic properties in the state. The initiative highlights endangered sites throughout Florida as nominated by the public and is a step in advocating for their preservation. By the summer of 2025, a new committee will make a recommendation to the city on what to do with the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

Popular Forks & Corks Food and Wine Festival Sets 2024 Dates
It’s not too early to get out your 2024 calendars. Local restaurant association Sarasota-Manatee Originals has announced that the annual Forks & Corks Food and Wine Festival will be held from Jan. 24-29. Tickets will go on sale in October. The event wasn’t held in 2021 and 2022 because of the pandemic. It moved to April this year, which some festgoers found uncomfortably hot for the outdoor affair. This year’s fest will include University Master Classes on Jan. 27, wine dinners at area restaurants from Jan. 25-28, wine shop tastings from Jan. 25-27 and the Grand Tasting at the Ringling on Jan. 28.
