Longboat Key Town Center Green Stage Nearly Complete

The Town Center Green stage is nearly ready to be deemed complete. The official grand opening for the stage will be celebrated Nov. 11, at 3:00 p.m. in conjunction with Veteran’s Day festivities once seasonal residents have had a chance to make their way back to their winter homes. The pavilion is part of the latest phase of improvements to the Town Center Green, a formerly undeveloped plot of land, a corner of which was once home to the Amore restaurant. Next up on the docket are plans for a community center in partnership with Sarasota County. 

 

Florida Takes Key Spots on Pacaso’s Top 2nd Home Markets for 2023

Florida dominated the top spots for second-home transactions, with eight of the 15 counties with the highest number of transactions located in the Sunshine State. The findings from second-home marketplace Pacaso were based on Optimal Blue data to identify the top 15 U.S. markets based on counties with the highest number of second-home transactions from Jan. 1 to May 3, 2023. According to the data, Sarasota County, Florida, Manatee County, Florida, and Broward County, Florida, have seen the greatest year-over-year price appreciation for second-home real estate.



Sarasota Performing Arts Center Architect Selected

Less than 24 hours after the three finalist firms made in-person presentations, the SPAC Architect Selection Task Force reconvened last Thursday to select Genoa, Italy-based Renzo Piano Building Workshop as its preferred architect to design the new Sarasota Performing Arts Center. The SPAC is planned to include a 2,100-seat main hall, a 300-seat flexible performance space and a total of 165,000 square feet of building utilizing inside and outside education, event and rooftop spaces. It will be owned by the city, the capital project funded by private donations, grants and tax increment finance revenues on a district surrounding The Bay, the city’s 53-acre waterfront park.
