Polish Up: = For those who love learning new things, there is no better place to cultivate that love than with the Longboat Key Education Center. This non-profit adult enrichment center provides a wide range of education and recreation classes to residents and winter visitors. Courses offered range from yoga and tai chi to foreign affairs and book clubs that last four to eight weeks. All courses are non-credit, and there are no prerequisites for admission. The center also offers lecture series, performing-arts series, and one-day workshops. In addition to guided day-long trips to interesting places throughout Southwest Florida
 
What to keep up with world events? Spend an hour in the morning reading local and regional newspapers, or check out your next beach read at the Longboat Library, located at 555 Bay Isles Road. The library receives no funds from the local government, so is always looking for book donations and volunteers, as well.
 
History Buffs: If you enjoy diving into and have a desire to assist in the preservation of historical artifacts, consider joining the Longboat Key Historical Society. This nonprofit organization focuses on preserving some of Longboat Key’s original cottages.

With The Lazy Lobster, Dry Dock Waterfront Grill, and Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant and Pub, it’s safe to say that Longboat Key serves up some of the best seafood on the planet.
