Florida has a lot going for it. Lower income and property taxes, warm weather, no estate taxes, and incredible recreation and beaches makes this state a desirable place. In Sarasota, what we have at the moment is a supply and demand issue. There’s a big pent-up demand issue of not having enough inventory to meet the current demand of buyers. Homebuyers are more confident than the sellers and they’re ready to make up for lost time. Our market is seeing incredible activity. I can report as of this newsletter I am navigating a total of nine pending sales and recently closed several more.

Many economists forecasted that the real estate market would experience a bounce-back in the 2nd Quarter and all indicators show that is exactly what is happening. In Sarasota, there was a 75% increase on pending listings from April to May and the number of active listings decreased 9%.
The Longboat Key Public Tennis Center has reopened all courts and doubles play is set to resume on courts one through six with a reservation. The weekday hours for the tennis center are extended from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facilities are open Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Every year, Gallup conducts a survey of Americans to determine their choice for the best long-term investment. Respondents are asked to select real estate, stocks/mutual funds, gold, savings accounts/CDs, or bonds. For the seventh year in a row, real estate has come out on top as the best long-term investment. The belief of the American people in the stability of housing as a long-term investment remains strong.
