History of the Siesta Key Neighborhood

Did you know the first settlements in Siesta Key are centuries old?

There are records of Spanish explorers setting foot on the Islands in the 16th century. That was followed by the British in the 18th century. Initially the Island was mainly a fishing and farming spot. However, things started changing during the 19th century when Capt. Louis Roberts constructed a homestead on the island. Even then it remained a rural state till the 20th century.

The 20th century saw Siesta Key Neighborhood rise as a resort destination. During all these times, its pristine beaches continued to attract thousands of people looking to settle here. With developers constructing resorts in the 20th century, the growth was unprecedented. Rise in tourism also fueled the demand for residential properties on the island making Siesta Key a sought after destination for home buyers.

Cafe Gabbiano

4.6 stars

Italian fine dining restaurant: $$

I head over to Cafe Gabbiano whenever I feel the urge to try out some quality Italian food with high-quality wine. The first time you walk into Cafe Gabbiano, you will likely mistake it for a wine cellar because of the decor. As for the ambiance, the casual ambiance makes the experience more comfortable. Try out their Bruschetta, lobster ravioli, Chicken Parmigiana, and Tiramisu when visiting Cafe Gabbiano. Since there is a paid parking lot nearby, parking isn’t an issue. No matter how busy the place gets, the service is impeccable. Want to further enhance your dining experience? Try the climate-controlled patio sitting outside.

The Cottage

4.6 stars

American & Japanese seafood restaurant: $$

Heading to Siesta Key Village? If so, don’t miss this restaurant, which serves amazing seafood but with a twist. It doesn’t shy away from giving an American or Japanese touch to seafood. Besides, their sustainable endeavors mean they are doing their bit for the environment. Despite it being a busy restaurant, the management has tried to provide a few secluded corners to patrons. When heading here, don’t miss out on Billionaire Burger and Wonton Tuna tacos.

If you’re looking for a big box store, try the newly renovated Publix. The movie theater certainly helps you catch some latest hits. Macy’s and restaurants further make it worth a visit. The glass roof on top further uplifts the ambiance of the entire mall. If spending a laid-back afternoon strolling across stores is your thing, Crossings at Siesta Key doesn’t disappoint.

Crystal Clear Waters- Best Beaches Siesta Key Offers by Bruce Myer Group

Crystal Clear Waters: Best Beaches Siesta Key Offers

Time and again, I have mentioned above that the beaches in Siesta Key Neighborhood are special.. Beaches here consist of 99% quartz sand, which means you will enjoy pure white sand. But which beaches should you head over to? Well, the 4 beaches below are favorite among locals.

Siesta Beach

Well let’s just say, Siesta beach is true to its name and is the place to laze around for a day while admiring the Gulf Of Mexico. Take a dip in clean crystal waters or just soak in some sun. Kids enjoy building sand castles or collecting shells on the beach. Plenty of cafes and bars are available nearby. Tip: Head to Siesta beach on a Sunday and you can enjoy the Drum Circle in the later half of the day.

Palmer Point Beach

Looking for something more private? Head over to the Palmer Point beach. The beach is well known for its dune system, sparse vegetation, and, of course, the Gopher tortoises. Keep in mind that since it’s a secluded beach, don’t expect many amenities or eateries nearby. However, if you want to go off the beaten path and explore Siesta Key Neighborhood’s untouched beauty, this is the beach to visit.

Turtle Beach

Most Siesta Key residents frequent Turtle Beach because of the surrounding picnic areas, a playground, and plenty of restaurants. Right beside it is the Blind Pass lagoon, which is a good spot for paddle-boarding. Besides that, you can fish and kayak in the lagoon. Since there is a campground on the beach, you’ll find locals and tourists spending an entire day on this beach.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is like a scenic postcard. On one side, you’ll find condominiums, and on the other side, white sand and turquoise water. Since it’s less crowded compared to Siesta Beach, it’s perfect for families. The gradual depth changes along the coastline make it perfect for swimming and other water sports like kayaking. Apart from building sandcastles, the beach is also a good spot for running, biking, and walking. It’s just south of Siesta Beach, which makes it easy to access. You won’t find a lot of tourists on this beach, but it is frequented by locals. In fact, the neighborhood is considered to be one of the hottest real estate markets on the island.

That’s because apart from the 54-hole course, the club has 17 tennis courts, a junior Olympic pool, a fitness center, restaurants, and 6 event spaces. If you’re just interested in the golf course, there are three courses, namely, The Member’s course, The Highlands, and The Groves.
