May 2021 Newsletter

It’s spring in Sarasota and our islands, and that means the car carriers are loading to transport seasonal residents back north. Our real estate market has been – and still is – booming, driven by a strong migration to our beautiful shores. But while many are moving in, there are also quite a few people leaving. Some, specifically our Canadian and International residents never came at all this past year. People selling in Longboat Key are leaving to be near family, going into assisted living or moving off the barrier islands.
 
Newcomers have poured in from all over and many people are buying property sight unseen. According to 2020 change of address requests from the United States Postal Service, Sarasota, was the No. 2 place in the country that people moved to. Why? The taxes are as nice as the weather, many young workers are relocating now that they have the ability to work remotely, and Sarasota offers a superior quality of life.
 
Analyzing these market movements is important to determine where things are heading. My take is there are still plenty more people coming than going, which makes our real estate market, and your property still one of the hottest tickets in town. Please call me if you’re ready to make your move.
